Wildflowers are one of Tucson's major
attractions. Sometimes the wildflower show is dramatic, sometimes the show
is less than dramatic (the amount and timing of rainfall are critical).
Whether dramatic or not, we have flowers blooming year-round. some
wildflowers take advantage of our spring rains, some our monsoon summer
rains, and some can bloom any time of the year. Our wildflowers may be
annual, surviving as a seed between seasons (see adaptations),
or perennials, often surviving only as a stump of their former self
between seasons (drought deciduous). Here are just a few of the common
